Bennett Bear Creek Farms Water and Sanitation District This project consisted of the replacement of approximately 415 feet of 8-inch concrete pipe with 10-inch PVC pipe on Bear Creek Drive. The project replaced a 30-year old pipe system with new PVC pipe and manholes. The two reaches of pipe showed visible signs of deterioration and multiple sags. By increasing the pipe to a 10-inch pipe, the District was able to increase capacity in anticipation of future growth. The project also involved the removal and replacement of an existing asphalt street and bedding sections of the existing pipe due to a contaminated subsurface and backfill material from an old landfill. Several alternatives were bid, including pipe bursting and no-dig technologies. However, even with street reconstruction costs, the removal and replacement project was more economical. City of Lakewood Meurer & Associates performed design and construction observation for the installation of an air jumper pipe across the Lakewood Gulch siphon structure. The project provided an airway for sewer gases to cross the siphon. The project involved the installation of an aerial pipe across Lakewood Gulch and consisted of 165 feet of coated steel pipe, concrete piers, connections to existing vaults, and site restoration. The project also entailed coordination with Urban Drainage and Flood Control for simultaneous construction with channel improvements. City of Northglenn This project consisted of the removal of a 15–inch sanitary sewer and replacement of
a portion of a 27-inch force main. The new facilities consisted of a 2,765 feet of 27-inch
force main, 185 feet 15-inch PVC pipe sanitary sewer and 1,245 feet of HDPE sliplining of the
27-inch force main. The HDPE sliplining was directed through curved manholes and lines relining
portions of the severally corroded PCCP concrete force main. Additionally, the project involved
sidewalk replacement. Sunburst Townhomes Meurer & Associates conducted consulting services for the rehabilitation of the asphalt driveways and roads for Sunburst Townhomes. Sunburst is a 450-unit townhome subdivision located in southwest Aurora that had substandard pavement that was approximately 25 years old. Meurer & Associates determined the appropriate rehabilitation method, performed quantity takeoffs, prepared specifications, and performed construction administration and observation. Willowbrook Water and Sanitation District Based on the District’s annual TV/Video program, which reviews approximately 20-33% of the District’s existing sanitary sewer system, the District completed a total of nine separate cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) and point repairs on its existing sanitary sewer system. Repairs varied from a full-length 351 feet CIPP to the removal and replacement of 15 feet of existing broken pipes with open excavation. The project also included pre-video and post-video reviews of the existing pipe conditions and repairs, manhole raising, root removal, and sewer tap reconstruction. |
